About Cavalier Masters

Cavalier Masters (formerly E Team) is a masters swim team based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Our team is organized under Cavalier Aquatics with Piedmont Family YMCA. Cavalier Aquatics is a USA Swimming program and Cavalier Masters is a USMS program.

Our swimmers range in all age groups and ability levels from recreational swimmers, former high school and college swimmers, elite national level swimmers, and several open water and multi-sport athletes. Our approach is focused on technique for efficient swimming to help you build confidence and fitness to meet your personal goals.

Our team was founded by Coach Don Easterling in 2012 at the ACAC fitness club in Charlottesville. In 2017, the team was named after Coach Easterling and called E Team and formally registered with USMS. Later that year the team moved from ACAC and relocated to the Piedmont Family YMCA where the team experienced tremendous growth. In the Autumn of 2022, Coach Easterling retired as head coach and the team was merged with the Cavalier Aquatics program under the leadership of Head Coach Gary Taylor.

Cavalier Masters (CM-Y) is a registered US Masters Swimming (USMS) club, within the Virginia LMSC. We have certified USMS Masters Coaches on deck. YMCA membership is encouraged to swim at our practice facility and USMS membership is required for all team members for insurance and liability coverage.

We focus on teaching technique for all levels of swimming as a stepping block to building confidence, fitness, and endurance.

Our Mission

Cavalier Masters empowers adults through swimming.

We believe anyone can become a strong swimmer, and that starts with building a foundation with proper technique and focus. We use these as building blocks to help you discover confidence and strength in the water that is fostered in a fun team environment. Swimming is a lifelong sport, and with Cavalier Masters, you will find friends for life.
