Athletes Out of the Pool: Cavalier Masters Swim Team Conquers Elements at the 2024 Charlottesville 10-Miler

Amid a deluge of rain that dumped over an inch of precipitation on the area on race morning and unseasonably cold temperatures, the Cavalier Masters Swim Team proved their mettle on land at the 49th Annual Charlottesville Ten Miler. Nearly 1,500 runners faced the elements, but the day belonged to those who could endure more than just distance.

Leading the charge for the Cavalier Masters was Roxanne Wegman, who claimed third in her division with a swift 1:10:52.  Harriette Fisher secured a remarkable first place in the female 75-79 division, crossing the finish line with a time of 2:09:56.41, an inspiring performance that spoke volumes of her enduring athletic spirit.  Tyler Sande pushed through the harsh conditions to finish 17th in his division, clocking an impressive 1:15:06.43. Meanwhile, Stephen Krepkovich battled the course and the weather to finish 45th in his division with a time of 1:28:38, demonstrating the team's depth and determination. Jennifer Csapo rounded out the team's strong showing, posting a time of 1:50:54 for 68th in her division.

The day was a gritty display of the team's tenacity.  The conditions were daunting, but for the Cavalier Masters Swim Team, it was a display of unity and strength, a collective triumph over a morning that was less about the clock and more about the heart. Their performances in the race are a reminder of the team's commitment to excellence and a healthy lifestyle, both in and out of the pool.
