Cavalier Masters Make Waves at Inaugural Virginia Short Course Championships

The 2024 USMS Virginia Short Course Championships made a splash at SwimRVA in Richmond, VA, hosting its inaugural state championships meet. With 27 teams converging for a thrilling display of skill and determination, it was the Cavalier Masters who emerged as the dominant force in the pool.


Claiming the coveted 1st place overall team title with an impressive tally of 1,238 points, Cavalier Masters showcased their prowess in both individual and team events. The women's team led the charge, securing the top spot with a formidable 842 points, while the men's team contributed significantly, finishing 5th overall with 396 points.

Fielding an impressive contingent of 11 swimmers, Cavalier Masters left an indelible mark on the competition, clinching an astonishing 53 first-place finishes, backed by 13 second-place finishes and 8 third-place finishes. Their relentless pursuit of excellence was further underscored by a clean sweep of all relays entered, solidifying their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in team events.


Leading the charge for Cavalier Masters were standout performers Shirley Loftus-Charley, Martha Bachman, and Brian Peterson, whose stellar performances not only earned them individual accolades but also proved instrumental in driving the team towards victory. Their exceptional contributions served as a testament to the unwavering dedication and skill that defines the Cavalier Masters.
