Brooks Family YMCA E Team Masters swimmers kicked off the 2019 short course season with two successful meets recently. Suzi Burns (72) and Janet Knight (57) competed in the 2019 Maryland Senior Olympics on September 14, 2019. Burns swam the 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke events and Knight competed in the 50 free, breast, fly and back events. They scored four first- and two second-place finishes.
Mary Hardy (45), Knight, Corey Krall (50), Dorothy Tourtual (68), Steve Paushter (68), and Burns competed in the "Pickin' Up Steam" meet on September 28, 2019 at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland. They competed in a total of 19 events, scoring 16 first- and three second-place finishes.
Meet records were set by Tourtual in the 100 and 200 ferestyle and Paushter in the 50 and 100 breaststroke events. The E Team placed second out of 16 teams competing in the meet.
