E Team Closes 2019 and Kicks off 2020 with a Splash

The Brooks Family YMCA "E Team" masters swimmers, coached by Don Easterling, finished the 2019 competitive fall season and began the 2020 spring season with first- second- and third-place finishes in every event entered.


On October 11, 2019, Mary Hardy (45), Dorothy Tourtual (68) and Shirley Loftus-Charley (68) closed out the fall swim season at the Virginia Masters Swim Team meet in Virginia Beach, scoring 10 first-place finishes and one second-place finish.


On January 26, 2020, Corey Krall (50) swam at the Tropical Splash meet in Alexandria, earning three first-place finishes. That same weekend, Esther Bobbin (37) beat both her existing records in the 100 fly and 200 IM at the CYAC Invite at the Brooks YMCA.


On February 1, 2020, Alex Tan (19), Emilie MacDonald (20), Mary Hardy (45), Christina Bowman (47), Jay Kauffmann (58), Meg Clute (64), Charlotte Zeithaml (67), Shirley Loftus-Charlie (68) and Suzi Burns (72) competed in the David Gregg III Memorial Swim Meet in Richmond, finishing with 24 first-place finishes, six second-place finishes, and three third-place finishes. Burns was the recipient of the inaugural Marie Kraft Kelleher Stamina Award, which honors Kelleher, a long-time USMS swimmer who died at the age of 103.
