Local Swimmer Places at XTERRA Event and Qualifies for World's

Local triathlete Kate Lucas triumphed in the 17th Annual EX2 XTERRA off-road triathlon in Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, MD last month.

Lucas challenged 196 national and international triathlon competitors in a Lake Habeeb 1200m swim, 13-mile mountain-bike ride, and a 5-mile trail run. She placed first in the 50-54 age group and was 5th Overall Female finisher with a total time of 2:35:00 (swim 23:45, bike 1:19:47, and run 51:30).

Kate's results (1st in age group) earned her a place in the Maui XTERRA Triathlon World Championships, which is scheduled for December 5, 2021.

Luca trains locally with friends and is a masters swimmer with Cville Masters at the Brooks YMCA.
